How To Volunteer
Those interested in participating should complete an application form. After you complete your application Sabu employees will work with you to identify projects that best fit your interests and goals for your trip. The processing time of all applications takes about four to eight business days. Results will be send electronically by email. We do accept volunteers all year round. Your presence is valued and treasured and we will work with you to ensure that we provide you with the appropriate activities based on your interest and we will do all we can to give you the assitance you need to make your trip fun and a lifetime experience. Why do I pay to volunteer? The school communities we work with have limited resources and are unable to support the costs for food, shelter, transportation and supervision of volunteers. Your fees help to support the teachers, students, improve the school infrastructure, instructional resources, and sustainable projects that will improve the Sabu International school organization. Sabu Volunteers are committed to the long-term self-sufficiency of each of our school communities. Age Language : We accept volunteers that speak, English, or French and it is a plus if you speak both. How long can you stay? Our volunteer programs last from two weeks, three weeks or one month. We also grant permission for volunteers that want to stay for a much longer period. Paperwork: Volunteers will required to own a passport and visa. Volunteers are also required to signed a signed Volunteer Conduct Standards Form and Waiver & Release of Liability, and for volunteers who are under the age of 18, a signed Parental Consent Form must be received three weeks prior to the start date of the program.
Our Volunteer Program offers volunteer opportunities for students, teachers, professionals, and anyone with the desire to serve in a rural or urban places in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. It is true that the Volunteer Program is not for everyone. Programs for participants are not highly structured, but activities differ day to day.The Volunteers are encourage to spend their time familiarizing themselves with the community by getting to know the people, and .the students they serve.
All participants must be 18 years or older to volunteer. All ages below 18 years must be accompanied by either their legal guidance or parents.
